What We Do
We provide support to victims in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic event. While everyone experiences things differently, most feel a loss of control of their lives.
Our role is to help victims feel safe, supported, and connected to services in an effort to lessen the trauma incurred.
Victim services clients include both primary and secondary victims and witnesses of crime and traumatic events. At times, the general public when affected by a major incident.

24-Hour Response
Volunteers and staff try to ensure that someone is available to respond to a crisis call 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week. Volunteers who respond to crisis calls are specifically trained and generally have more experience dealing with a crisis.

Emotional Support
Emotional support involves the validation of feelings and common reactions which clients may experience as a victim of crime and/or traumatic event.

Assistance with Financial Support
Assistance with compensation program applications and research additional financial support.

Referrals for Services
Victims who require professional assistance such as counseling, legal advice, etc. will be referred to the appropriate agency with their permission only.

Death Notification Support
Victim Services will assist the police with death notifications when required, to provide emotional and practical support to those who have lost a loved one.

Safety & Security Plans
Victims often experience a deep violation of privacy and safety. Victim Services provides information on security and safety measures to ensure the client feels safe and supported, in an effort to lessen the trauma experienced.

Assistance with Victim Impact Statements
Assistance with clarification and completing Victim Impact Statements and Victim Financial Compensation.

Court Accompaniment
Preparation for court and testifying and accompaniment to court proceedings.
